First I got into a yelling match with a bus driver.
Then, and more significantly, I found out that my son has Asperger's. Not that the school psychologist is available to share any of the details until a month from now.
That's what you get when you don't pay for services.

Yup, that sounds like a shitty day.
I had a little look around re Asperger's - looks like it's kinda tricky to diagnose. I hope you get the help you need to sort this out re proper diagnosis and treatment etc. I'm not overly trusting of the medical community myself...

It certainly is major. And like Lucy said, take care of yourself, won't you? And also, a month is a long time whether you're paying or not.

After the shock of hearing this possibility I think that it might provide a few valuable leads to parenting strategies and might make you feel less responsible for some of his eccentricities, which are not to hard to adapt to anyway.
Perhaps more importantly, Asperger's might help others to realise that those eccentricities are not wilful rudeness directed at them. I'm thinking of a particular mother you wrote about...

PS. Sars and I agree that F really is gifted at reading and writing unless a very narrow definition is used to exclude his obvious performance level compared to his peers.

Asperger's is quite different when compared to the others in the spectrum. Many children grow up to lead productive and happy lives.
